Blue Zones Project Tuolumne County Partnership

GROVELAND, CA – The Blue Zones Project (BZP) Tuolumne County continues to be a powerful catalyst for health, connectivity, and community vitality across the greater Groveland area. Over the past four years, BZP’s partnerships and resident-led initiatives have helped transform local spaces, promote active living, and strengthen collaboration throughout Tuolumne County. 

Working closely with the Groveland Community Services District (GCSD), Blue Zones Tuolumne has supported numerous projects that promote wellness, sustainability, and outdoor recreation, making Groveland a hub for community health innovation. 

Key Highlights 

  • Supported a $6.2 million grant for the Phase 1 Trail connecting Pine Mountain Lake, Downtown Groveland, and Big Oak Flat. 
  • Engaged nearly 100 residents in community trail walks and cleanup events. 
  • Secured $7.5 million in state grants for trails, parks, and downtown beautification. 
  • Assisted in planning an 18-hole Disc Golf Course and exploring a mountain biking course on GCSD property. 
  • Backed UC Berkeley’s 2025 Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Study. 
  • Installed “No Smoking” signs, provided healthy snacks for Movies in the Park, and offered to add hydration stations and a community garden.
