Bio:  Shane AKA "Dirt Leg" 

Operator II – Collections & Distribution Department

Shane Sawyer serves as an Operator II in Groveland Community Services District’s Collections & Distribution Department. His work focuses on maintaining the District’s water and sewer systems and helping ensure the community has access to safe, reliable potable water.

Shane’s day-to-day responsibilities include repairing water breaks, performing general water and sewer system maintenance, jetting and rinsing sewer manholes, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining accurate records. Whether responding to a small repair or a major water break, Shane takes pride in working alongside his team to keep the District’s infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

Groveland is more than just a place Shane works, it is home. Born and raised in Groveland, Shane has a strong connection to the community and genuinely enjoys serving the people who live here. One of his favorite parts of working for GCSD is the experience of working with the public and the relationships he has built with his co-workers, many of whom have become good friends. He especially enjoys the long and late nights spent “playing in the mud” and working together to solve problems and fix things.

Outside of his regular work duties, Shane enjoys giving back to the community he calls home. He participates in the Groveland Facelift and regularly picks up litter around the community. If there is one thing Shane dislikes most, it is litter, and he is more than willing to do something about it!

Shane says his time with GCSD has helped him grow both personally and professionally: “While working at GCSD, I have become a better man, furthering my education and learning what it means to be a professional in all aspects of my life. Groveland is my home. I was born and raised here, and I love this community and the people in it. Being able to work for GCSD gives me the opportunity to serve the community that has always been home to me.”
