Matthew “Matt Man” Dickens

Maintenance Technician III – Operations/Collections & Distribution Department

 “Matt Man”  has been with Groveland Community Services District for nearly 20 years and serves as the lead mechanic in the Collections & Distribution Department. With decades of experience and a strong knowledge of the District’s equipment, Matt plays an essential role in keeping GCSD’s fleet safe, reliable, and ready to go.

Matt is entrusted with maintaining the District’s entire fleet, which includes a wide range of vehicles and equipment such as service trucks, tractors, Vac-Con equipment, and fire trucks. His work helps ensure that when the Collections & Distribution crews are called upon, the equipment they rely on is ready to perform. Matt takes great pride in keeping the fleet running and is always willing to lend a hand when something needs attention.

Matt’s work also directly supports the District’s emergency response efforts. The firefighters at GCSD Station 781 rely on Matt to keep the District’s fire engine properly maintained and ready to respond when the community needs it most. Whether responding to a medical emergency, a structure fire, or another emergency call, having a dependable engine ready to go is critical, and Matt plays an important role in making sure it is there when needed.

Matt began his career by attending Universal Technical Institute, where he studied automotive and diesel technology. His technical education, hands-on experience, and years of working with the District’s equipment have made him an invaluable resource to the crews and to the District as a whole.

While Matt may not be one to seek the spotlight, his work speaks for itself. After nearly 20 years with GCSD, he continues to keep the District’s equipment running, solve mechanical problems, and help ensure the crews have what they need to get the job done.

When asked what he enjoys about working in the Groveland community, Matt’s answer is simple: it gets him away from the valley. After nearly 20 years, it seems Groveland has treated him pretty well.
