07/27/2017 Pine Mountain Lake Sewer Spill Incident Details
Flushing Branch across from the Pine Mountain Lake Lodge.
The Flushing Branch had been tampered with; a plastic bag had been wrapped around the rubber gasket, which displaced the seal causing it to enter the mainline restricting flow.
Approximately 239 gallons entered the lake based on volume estimators. We suspect this activity was done by a property owner in an attempt to prevent odor coming from the sewer collection system. PLEASE contact the District if you are experiencing odor issues, so that we can assist and avoid events like this. 209-962-7161
In cooperation with Tuolumne County Environmental Health, swimming areas will be closed until bacteriological testing results are available. This will be a minimum of 48 hours.
